Sara Teasdale’s On the Tower was one of the only dramatic works written by the noted American poet. This first page of the original manuscript was revised and published in Helen of Troy, and Other Poems (1911).

The top of a high battlemented tower of a castle. A stone ledge extends partway around the parapet, and serves as a seat. Entrance R. from stair-way which is unseen and is supposed to extend around the outside of the tower.
Small clouds float by in the blue sky and occasionally a swallow passes.
